NBA All-Star Weekend 2017

Posted by Tiffany Santana on

NBA All-Star Weekend festivities officially begin tomorrow with the Rising Stars Challenge. Athletes and celebrities have already started arriving in the “Big Easy” in anticipation of a star-studded weekend. Since being relocated from Charlotte, North Carolina, NBA All-Star Weekend 2017 hasn’t seemed to have lost its momentum. However, Nike Basketball has elected to break tradition, canceling the production of their All-Star line. Plummeting sales and a decreasing interest for All-Star colorways prompted this decision. If you’re looking for kicks to commemorate this year’s celebration, you’ll have to scoop a pair from Jordan Brand or settle for an obscure pair of Air Force 1’s.
SNEAKER: Air Jordan 1 Retro High All-Star
PRICE: $175
Easily the most eye-catching release of the weekend, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High All-Star is enough to make re-sellers salivate. The iridescent finish has appropriated the “Chameleon” nickname. Adopting Charlotte Hornets undertones, was this colorway spawned in anticipation of this year’s game being brought to Charlotte? Perhaps Michael Jordan’s ownership of the Hornets has something to do with these.
SNEAKER: Air Jordan 6 All-Star
PRICE: $225
Complying with Jordan Brand’s iridescent theme, the Air Jordan 6 All-Star has made its way into the lineup. 3m reflective detailing combined with a translucent outsole adds to the shoe’s notoriety. Jumpman branding is located at the heel atop a hexagon graphic.
SNEAKER: Air Jordan 31 All-Star
PRICE: $185
The latest edition to Jordan Brand’s retro series will rightfully make an appearance during this weekend’s All-Star festivities. The Air Jordan 31 All-Star takes inspiration from the Charlotte Hornets while channeling an iridescent vibe. Likely to be worn by Russell Westbrook, the sneaker has all the qualities of a modern basketball sneaker with a retro appeal. Could the Air Jordan 31 be the most slept on sneaker of the weekend?
SNEAKER: Nike Air Force 1 Low Flyknit
PRICE: $160
Nike’s Basketball branch may have decided to skip out on All-Star weekend but their lifestyle branch has something to offer. The Nike Air Force 1 Low Flyknit may be the least mentioned sneaker in All-Star sneaker history. Dynamic Flywire graces the silhouette combined with touches of premium suede. Vibrant color splashes combined with 3M detailing distinguishes these as an asset to anyone’s collection.
