#Throwbackthursday Puma Clyde

Posted by Brandon Ford on

SMILE, the work week is almost over! How about we switch up the flow with a brief #THROWBACKTHURSDAY segment! In honor of Jay-Z's new role as creative director at Puma Basketball, we feel it's appropriate to revisit the Puma Clyde.

Puma dates back to as far as the 1920’s. During their start in Germany, Puma was mostly concerned with making football boots. At the time they used cutting-edge technology to design a shoe that would cut into grass, gravel, and dirt. Screw in studs helped athletes gain traction across multiple terrains. Leaping forward to 1973, Puma begins to target one of the most impactful basketball players of that time. The Puma Clyde was created for Walt “Clyde” Frasier in response to his signature style on and off the court. Fraiser had the ability to make the game look effortless, similar to his fashion sense. He was often known to wear his Clyde's with alternating formstrips, fedoras, and long sideburns. The Puma Clyde was definitely a fashion statement, providing comfort with style, in a way the world was not used to. With this release, Puma elevated their status in the footwear industry and made an impact on sneaker culture.

The Puma Clyde has been featured in a variety of colors and textures. When interviewed about the legacy of his sneaker, Frasier concluded the Clyde is a timeless silhouette. He considered his ability to dress up the sneaker with casual outfits and flashy hats. In the 1980’s breakdancers took a liking to the shoe. The vibrant color schemes and lightweight appeal were perfect for the emerging hip-hop scene. 40 years after their release the Puma Clyde is still a desirable sneaker. Walt Frazier's presence on the basketball court and sneaker industry will forever be felt. Do you happen to own any Puma Clydes? Tweet us some pics and stay tuned for more posts.

Feature x Saucony Shadow 6000 Living Fossil

Posted by Brandon Ford on

Isn't it about time we salivated over another collaborative release? This time, Feature Sneaker Boutique and Saucony are up to bat! The Feature x Saucony Shadow 6000 Living Fossil is available now at Feature via an online raffle and will be followed by an online release on June 23rd. The Saucony 6000 has been reworked to mimic the color scheme of the Ichthyosaur! For those of us who aren't well versed when it comes to dinosaurs, this creature happens to have been native to Nevada many thousands of years ago. In fact, it's now considered the state fossil! They're scheduled to retail for $120 alongside an assortment of clothing to complement the sneaker.

The Living Fossil is complete with holographic accents and waterproof panels. Beryl-Green is the primary color which is accented by shades of grey and white. A cracked nubuck finish and speckled outside help emulate the appearance of a fossil. Reflective Saucony branding on the tongue and heel add additional flair and complete the look. Don't let your kicks end up looking like they've been taking a dirt nap for 1000 years! Do the right thing and grab a RESHOEVN8R Cleaning kit!

Nike React Element 87

Posted by Brandon Ford on

If you tuned into fashion week earlier this year, you may have caught a glimpse of Nike's forthcoming silhouette. The Nike React Element 87 is already a candidate for SOTY, and continues to draw unprecedented attention from sneakerheads across the globe. Jun Takahashi's UNDERCOVER label originally included this silhouette as part of a collaborative drop. However, it's been confirmed that Nike plans to release this sneaker as a solo project. While they're scheduled to drop June 21st in Asia, we'll have to wait until July 13th for a North American release. Several colorways have been leaked, yet the white and black offerings are the only ones expected to drop.

The Nike React Element 97 channels OFF-WHITE vibes. Could it be the translucent upper? Maybe it's the industrial vibe stemming from the construction of the silhouette? It'll sure be interesting to see how quickly these fly off shelves. This lifestyle silhouette will include REACT foam cushioning. It should be noted that the sneaker's cork sole will greatly enhance the level of comfort. Currently, they're listed at $160, but god only knows how much resellers will attempt to sell them for. If you're lucky enough to score a pair, be sure to grab some repellent to keep them clean!
